Salt Benefits

SaltMagnesium Sulfate, also known as Epsom salt, is commonly used in hydrotherapy to soothe the skin, muscles and joints while soaking. It is a naturally occurring colorless and odorless solid substance. As it is absorbed through the skin, it helps with naturally curing your body from pains and aches. And while doing so also regulates over 300 enzymes in the body.

While also having a detoxifying effect, Magnesium is a direct link for the use of calcium in the body, helping to prevent osteoporosis. It helps the body to maintain normal nerve and muscle function. It also strengthens your hair and follicles.

The Universal Health Institute says although magnesium can be absorbed through the digestive tract, many foods, drugs and medical conditions can interfere with the effectiveness of this delivery method. Therefore, soaking in an Epsom Salt bath is one of the most effective means of making the magnesium your body needs readily available.

Epsom Salt also delivers sulfates, which medical research indicates are needed for the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Studies show that sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and help to detoxify the body’s residue of medicines and environmental contaminants.

Studies indicate that sulfates are difficult to absorb from food, but are readily absorbed through the skin. “Magnesium helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis.”
